CGIU event to be live streamed from Washington University

ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - The Clinton Global Initiative University is being held this weekend at Washington University.

The event kicks off Friday 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. with remarks from Mark S. Wrighton, chancellor of Washington University and Chelsea Clinton, board member of The Clinton Foundation.

Former President Bill Clinton; Twitter co-founder and CEO of Square, Inc. Jack Dorsey; inventor, writer, and student William Kamkwamba; and writer, producer, and founder of Women for Women International Zainab Salbi will also be in attendance at the opening plenary session.

Saturday's first plenary session will be held from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. with Chelsea Clinton moderating the "A Future for Girls and Women: Empowering the Next Generation" session.

Shabana Basij-Rasikh, managing director of the School of Leadership in Afghanistan; Hawa Abdi Diblawe, founder of The Dr. Hawa Abdi Foundation; Stephen J. Felice, president and chief commercial officer of Dell, Inc.; and Muhammad Yunus, chairman of Yunus Centre will speak at this session.

The next plenary session will be held from 12:15 p.m. until 1:15 p.m. with a lunch session called "Solutions Without Borders: Working With Unlikely Allies."

This session will be moderated by Bill Bishop, editor of The Daily Yonder.

Will Allen, founder and CEO of Growing Power; Sen. Claire McCaskill; Sara Minkara, president and founder of Empowerment Through Integration; and Brendan Tuohey, co-founder and executive director of PeacePlayers International will speak at this session.

The last plenary event will be from 4 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. with President Bill Clinton and comedian Stephen Colbert.
