A simple knock on Reginald Boyd's story changed his life forever.

"Actually I was on my way to Mississippi. I was moving out of St. Louis and going down to Mississippi. So I stopped that."

Edna Green with the Foster and Adoptive Care Coalition was looking for safe appropriate family for three children in foster care.  It's through a program called Extreme Recruitment.  They use all means necessary to find permanency for children in foster care, including a private investigator.  Typical placement cases take 22-24 months. With Extreme Recruitment, more than 70-percent of children were matched with safe family within 16-20 weeks.

Reginald is the biological uncle to all three kids.  After the initial meeting, he signed up for foster and adoption classes.

"I had to leave work to go to classes.  I pretty much dedicated myself to these meeting and speaking out for these children that everyone thought failed society."

Uncle Reggie knows the obstacles his niece and nephews faced.

"I think it's going to be different in a lot of ways.  We have someone there to tell us what's wrong and what's right.  Uncle Reggie can help me with stuff," 16-year-old Rashad said.  Rashad and his brother and sister are adjusting well  to living with Uncle Reggie and going to school. They are getting good grades and making lots of friends.

"When I was a child, I was lead astray.  I don't want anyone else to be led astray.   My life changed since they moved in.  It's amazing. I got my niece and nephews. They're back on track. It's a new school year.  It's just wonderful.  They got their own rooms and can go to sleep at night good. It's just amazing to have them. Words can't explain."
