A St. Louis based non-profit has been gathering gifts to put under the tree for military families.

We have a toy drive that has been extremely successful this year thanks to the wonderful people in this community," said Carol Watanbe, Little Patriots Executive Director.

Little Patriots serves military children throughout the year, but their focus in December is making sure there are enough presents to go around.

"It makes a huge difference. These children are just so excited just to know that they're cared about and loved and just to feel that little extra special here at the holiday time, explained Scarlet Boren, Little Patriots volunteer.

"These soldiers are away from their families we're there to care for their families while they're gone," said Susan Heimann, Little Patriots Program Director.

There are several ways to get involved with Little Patriots. The group says their biggest need right now is shipping costs since they still need to get all the donated gifts into the right hands. For more about the non-profit or to make a donation head to or call 314-821-5800.
