Organizers of the Mardi Gras Beggin' Pet Parade call the event the largest pet parade in the world. The money raised from the popular event helps Open Door Animal Sanctuary take care of thousands of animals every year.
"The Pet Parade is our largest fundraiser so it really makes a difference as how we can care for these animals as to how many people come out and pay the registration," explained Tracie Quackenbush, Open Door Animal Sanctuary.
Purina has helped host the Mardis Gras Beggin Pet Parade for 20 years.
"It's a football themed day. We're calling it our tailgate," said Dan Koehler, Purina.
The Beggin Pet Parade is Sunday, February 3. Registration starts at 10am at the corner of Menard and Allen Streets in Soulard.
The parade steps off at 1pm and the Bacon Brothers will take the stage at 2:30pm.
It's free to watch and it costs $10 dollars for every pet entered in the parade.
You can register online now until 5pm Friday at www.begginpetparade.com
