As many people search for the latest workout craze to help shed pounds before summer a not so new concept is making a comeback. Hoopnotica has turned play time into a calorie burning and muscle toning workout. The hula hoop fitness trend started in LA, but has since turned into a worldwide phenomenon. St. Louis is no exception to the hula hooping craze.
"It really engages almost every muscle on the body in a very low impact high cardio way so people that have weight issues people that have joint issues people that have old injuries can really benefit from this activity," explained Michelle Schaeffer, St. Louis Hoop Club instructor.
Some hoopists say the elementary school flashback can be hoopnitizing.
"It works because it's fun, said Schaeffer.
The St.Louis Hoop club is adding a new aerobic based class in June called Mini Hoop Fitness. Classes and workshops are held at the Performing Arts Center at 2720 Cherokee Street. For more information about what the hoopla is all about visit www.stlhoopclub.com.
