Lincoln County, MO (KSDK) - A two vehicle collision early Wednesday morning has claimed the life of a child, and left four other people injured.
Highway Patrol investigators say around 5:40 a.m. yesterday, an eastbound pick-up truck cross the center line of Highway 47 just west of Lindsey Road and collided nearly head-on with a westbound car.
Nine year old David Simpson of Winfield was a passenger in that car and was airlifted to Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital in St. Louis where he died just before 11:00 a.m. Wednesday.
The young boys parents and an eight year old sibling were also injured in the collision and taken to area hospitals.
Troopers tell NewsChannel 5, 29 year old Angela Simpson was driving the car that was struck. Also injured were 32 year old David, and eight year old Dana Simpson, all from Winfield.
The other driver, a 32 year old Troy resident, was also hurt and taken to the hospital. Troopers say they will seek manslaughter charges, as well as assault, and drunk driving crimes against that driver.
All of the remaining injuries were classified as moderate.
