WASHINGTON (KSDK) - Around 35,800 pounds of breaded chicken products made by Suzann's Kitchen have been recalled.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service announced the recall Thursday because they may contain pieces of plastic.
The recalled products include:
- Freebird fully cooked chicken nuggets (12 oz.) with a case code of 6220 and a use-by date of March 15, 2014 printed on each case and carton. They have a Julian code of 2075.
- Freebird fully cooked gluten-free/soy free chicken patties (12 oz.) with a case code of 6244 and a use-by date of September 6, 2013 printed on each case and carton. They have a Julian code of 1249.
- Fully cooked chicken nuggets (10 lb. bulk cases) with a case code of 6221 and a use-by date of March 15, 2014 printed on each case and carton. They have a Julian code of 2075.
All of the chicken products in question show the USDA mark of inspection and were produced March 15, 2012 and September 6, 2011.
The products were distributed to stores nationwide.
The problem was discovered after consumer complaints of plastic in the products. The plastic may have originated from the plastic bags the products were held in before they were produced.
There have been no reports of injury or illness.
Consumers concerned they may have been injured or fallen ill due to the product should contact a healthcare provider.
Anyone with questions about the recall should contact the Freebird Consumer Hotline at 800-724-0206.
