ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - Data released today shows the unemployment rate in the St. Louis metropolitan area was up 1.1 percent over the year.
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics says that the unemployment rate for the region was 6.9 percent, which is half a percent lower than the national average.
News for the region was mixed overall, with four industry sectors adding jobs over the 12 month period from November 2011 to November 2012, while three industry sectors in the region lost jobs.
The strongest areas of growth were in health, education, and business services. The leisure and hospitality had the largest job losses.
