CHICAGO (KSDK) - In recent months, Illinois has seen significant news coverage of its budget woes, but a new list from Site Selection magazine ranks Illinois as the fifth best state in the country for corporate locations.
The state moves up one spot from last year, with 322 corporate facilities locating or expanding in Illinois.
Walgreens, Nippon Sharyo, and Chrysler are among the companies that relocated or expanded in the state last year.
"More and more companies are choosing Illinois to invest and grow their business," Governor Quinn said. "I'm committed to advancing Illinois' competitiveness and using every tool at my disposal to expand businesses headquartered in our state and encourage others to locate and do business here."
To be included in the statistics, companies had to invest at least $1 million in capital, create at least 50 new jobs, or add 20,000 sq. ft of new business space.
Texas, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Georgia were also included in the top ten states with most business locations and expansions.
