NASHVILLE, Ill (KSDK) - A new ice rink and aquatic center will be built in the Metro East.

Hawk Development, based in Nashville, Illinois, released initial plans for the complex, which includes a two sheet ice rink, aquatic center and hotel.

The proposed development would be privately funded.

Hawk Development is searching for architectural groups.  Once an architect is selected, then a location will be selected.

The development is expected to be built along the Illinois I-64 corridor. It would happen in two phases from 2013 through 2015.

Core partners in the development include McKendree University and the Southern Illinois IceHawks.  The Mississippi Valley Club Hockey Association and the St. Louis Curling Club also intend to use the proposed complex.
