ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - BJC began notifying 160 of its 28,000 employees Wednesday that their jobs were being eliminated, according to June McAllister Fowler, the Vice President of Corporate and Public Communications for BJC.
The reductions were primarily in administrative and management areas and were across its 13 hospitals, four service organizations and all support departments, Fowler said.
The human resources team is working with the impacted employees to identify other positions within BJC. All are receiving 30 days paid notice, outplacement assistance, EAP services and if no BJC position is found employees will receive severance pay based on years of service.
Fowler said the reimbursements to hospitals have been reduced by all payors and its hospitals have experienced lower volume. BJC has been trying to reduce supply costs and have cut non-staff expenses across BJC.
