(CNN) - The Department of Transportation has fined Southwest Airlines $200,000 for bad fare sale practices.

Officials say the airlines promoted fares for "$100 or less" for travel in February, but, didn't have enough seats available in a number of cities.

Southwest also advertised $66 one-way fares from Dallas to Branson, Mo. in March, but, didn't have any seats available at that price.

The department says Southwest "engaged in prohibited unfair and deceptive practices" in both cases.
