NBC -- A Port Orange, Florida teacher was arrested on Wednesday after being accused of having sex with a student.
Last week the South Daytona Police Department contacted the Port Orange Police Department regarding information from Warner Christian Academy about an alleged sexual relationship between a teacher and a student.
The Port Orange Police Department said that after investigating, they believe Cynthia Horvath, 45, had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student between June and September.
According to the police report, the teenager said the relationship began last spring. They took long drives, stole hugs and kisses behind closed doors at the school.
Horvath allegedly sent the teen explicit text messages. He told police things really heated up in the summer.
The two allegedly had sex in store parking lots and under a bridge in Port Orange.
The teen said he met his teacher at motels in Daytona Beach.
Police said beyond witness statements, the teen turned over evidence including personal mementos that implicate the teacher.
An arrest warrant was signed for Horvath on Wednesday and she was arrested at the Wal-Mart on Beville Road in Daytona Beach just after noon on the same day.
Horvath was taken to the Volusia County Branch jail and is charged with unlawful sexual activity with a minor.
If she's prosecuted and convicted, she could face up to 15 years in prison.
