CARBONDALE, Ill. (AP) -- A Carbondale police officer is suspended without pay after being accused with another man of robbing a bank in that southern Illinois city last October.

Jackson County prosecutors charged 26-year-old officer James Gaddis and 35-year-old Anthony Fike in the Oct. 9 holdup of the First Southern Bank.

Authorities say two robbers wearing motorcycle helmets made off with about $22,000.

No one was injured.

Gaddis has worked as a Carbondale patrolman since 2004. He was arrested Wednesday without incident. Fike surrendered to Jackson County deputies Thursday.

Fike was a neighbor of Gaddis'.

Gaddis is jailed on $1 million bond. Fike if free on $50,000 bond.

It was not immediately clear whether they have attorneys.
