Webster Groves, Mo (KSDK) -- An employee of St. Louis Public Schools and dance studio founder is accused of having sex with a 16-year-old more than five years ago.
Prosecutors charged Torris Caston with second-degree statutory rape. Webster Groves police said Caston is accused of assaulting the student at Caston Ballet Studio at 27 South Old Orchard Avenue in February 2005.
A St. Louis Public Schools spokesperson confirmed that Caston works at McKinley Classical Leadership Academy, located on Russell Boulevard. Caston has been an employee of the school system since 1987.
Caston was arrested on December 16 and is being held on a $75,000 bond.
According to the website for Caston's Ballet Academie, Caston has extensive experience working with youth. The site says Caston taught grades six through 11 at McKinley, hosted many dance residencies with touring companies through Dance St. Louis, and worked at several private schools in Missouri and Illinois. It also says he worked at St. Louis Community College and Maryville University.
