St. Louis (KSDK) -- A music video shoot gave way to violence, And it was all caught on tape.

The images were posted on-line yesterday, of a girl being brutally beaten with a crowbar, and now that video has gone viral, with tens of thousands of people viewing it around the country.

Police believe the assault happened several weeks ago. It might never have been brought to their attention if it hadn't been posted on hundreds of Facebook pages and dozens of websites yesterday.

On the site World Star Hip Hop, the violence escalates quickly. A girl has a crowbar and with one running strike, she knocks another girl to the ground.

Jeremy Brooks was there that night, part of the entourage of rapper Lil St. Louis who was shooting a music video.

He watched as the girl, lying in a pool of her own blood, had a violent seizure.

Brooks says, "I thought she was dead in front of my eyes. She was shaking so much and all blood was everywhere all over her face. I thought she was dead."

St. Louis police have seen the video. And while they say there aren't any records of a 911 call or any police reports made at the time, they say they are investigating now.

Attorney Kristy Ridings says, "I think there's a huge legal arena opening up with Facebook, Twitter, YouTube."

Ridings says this type of video can give authorities proof a crime occurred.

She says it can also serve as a wake up call.

She says, "A video like this opens people's eyes that might not be aware of what's going on."

That awareness is growing by the hour, as thousands view it.

Yet those who live near Dodier and 22nd, still can't believe it happened here.

Carolyn Ollie says, "It just goes to show you the amount of violence that's here in St. Louis."

Demarco Hayes says, "Things get out of hand a little bit and this is a rough neighborhood."

As for the victim, Brooks says she had a second seizure at the hospital and lost some teeth, but survived.

In fact, he says she's doing much better now.

He says, "She up walking around, driving."

As for the video violence, he wishes it would just stop.

Brooks says, "They just gave the neighborhood a bad name that night."

The manager for Lil St. Louis, Robert Kibby released a statement saying "The situation at the video shoot was an unfortunate, isolated incident. The participants in the altercation have no affiliation with the artist or Derrty Entertainment. Our artist, Lil St. Louis has reached out to the young woman to check on her and her well-being and he was told she was up and walking and doing well."
