Springboro, OH (WKEF/CNN) - A 14-year-old boy faces rape charges after being accused of having sex with a 12-year-old girl at school.
The incident allegedly happened during school hours.
Both say it was consensual, but that doesn't matter under Ohio law.
"First of all they're too young. When I was 12 years old I didn't know about things that deep," said resident Cindy Moore.
"I think it's horrible. I can't believe it. I know I'm older and from a different generation but my gosh," said another Springboro resident, Norma Alexander.
These women say it's unbelievable that two students had sex at school.
The Warren County prosecutor says they were able to get out of class and hook up.
Now the boy is charged with rape because the girl is under the age of 13.
"I think it's a shame and if he's going to be charged she should be charged too because they both knew what they were doing," said Moore.
The women also feel the school should punish both students.
They want to know where the teachers were when this was going on.
"When we were in school the teachers monitored the halls, they would come in the bathrooms, they knew where we were," said Moore.
"You just think your kids are raised with better morals than to go to school and have sex. I mean that's horrible," said Alexander.
School officials say they cannot comment on the case.
