Wildwood, Mo. (KSDK) -- Firefighters with the Monarch Fire Protection District rescued a dog Saturday afternoon from icy water.

Crews were called to the 400 block of Pine Bend Drive around 2:45 PM. The dog, Gretchen, was in the water, about 60 feet off shore.

First responder Chris Marshall went on the ice and into the water to rescue the dog. He was able to grab the 7-month-old black lab, slide back on the ice and bring her to safety.
