ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - St. Louis Police say a 45-year-old woman walking in the Central West End Tuesday was punched in the face by a man for no apparent reason.
Authorities say around 5:10 p.m. Tuesday, the woman was walking towards her car in the 4400 block of Maryland when she dropped a cigarette lighter and bent down to pick it up.
That's when the unknown man, reported to be approximately 18 to 22-years-old, wearing a lighter colored hooded zip-up sweatshirt pushed the woman and punched her in the face before running away.
The woman told police she was not seriously injured in the attack and none of her property was taken in the incident.
The attack is the third such incident in recent weeks in that neighborhood. Less than two weeks ago, two men walking separately along Newstead were victimized in unprovoked attacks.
One victim, a 73-year-old man on his way to the pharmacy was punched in the eye by a man who then ran away. Minutes later, the same attacked reportedly punched a 77-year-old man in the face, smashing the victims glasses and leaving him with a black eye.
So far no arrests have been made and police aren't sure if all of the crimes are related. If you have any information, police urge you to call CrimeStoppers at 1-866-371-TIPS.
