Man shot after telling suspects he has no money

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KSDK) - A man was shot in north city Saturday after he told suspects he had no money to give them.

According to St. Louis Police, officers responded to a shooting call around 11:30 a.m. Saturday in the 5600 block of Maffitt Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers found a male victim, 51, sitting on his front porch and suffering from a gunshot wound to his abdomen.

The victim told police he was approached by two men who demanded money. When the victim explained to them he had no money, one suspect pulled out a gun and fired one shot, striking the victim.

The victim was transported to a local hospital listed in serious/stable condition.

The investigation is ongoing.
