Ballwin, MO (KSDK) - Officers with the Ballwin Police Department apprehended an unusual burglar suspect last week following a break-in at a local residence.

According to Sgt. Jim Heldmann, a police spokesman, the break-in took place Thursday, March 29 around 3:15 p.m. in the 15900 block of Wetherburn Drive.

The homeowner arrived home from work to find his kitchen window smashed in. The man heard additional commotion inside the house and quickly left to call police.

Officers found the "burglar" hiding in a basement workout room: a 20-pound turkey.

The turkey lost a few feathers but otherwise appeared uninjured. The bird was released.
