St. Louis (KSDK) - Police are on the scene after a 10-year-old was caught in crossfire and shot in the stomach.

The incident happened around 5:50 p.m. Friday in the 4400 block of Lexington in north St. Louis.

Authorities say a girlfriend was trying to break up with her boyfriend. She walked away, and got into a car.

The boyfriend and his friends followed the car the girlfriend was in, and fired shots at the woman in the 4400 block of Lexington.

A 10-year-old boy playing in a front yard was caught in the crossfire and shot in the stomach. He has no relation to anyone involved in the altercation.

The victim was transported to an area hospital, where he is in surgery.

He is listed in stable condition.

A second shooting victim, a 24-year-old male, was also located, but it is unclear if he was part of the incident, or if he became caught in crossfire.

Two people have been taken into custody. Their identities have not been released.

A Pontiac police believe was involved has also been apprehended.

Neighbors say they believe the incident may have also been gang related, and do not think those involved are from the area.
