Police investigate shooting outside north St. Louis home

St. Louis, MO (KSDK) -  St. Louis Police say they have little to go on in identifying the suspect who opened fire on a man in north St. Louis late Monday, then fled from the crime scene.

Police responded to the 4800 block of Hammett Place near Sherman Park and found the injured man outside the residence.  The victim told police a man approached him outside the home and pulled a gun and fired.

Detectives have not established a motive for the attack and were unable to get any further description on the gunman from the injured victim.

The victim is hospitalized in stable condition with a bullet wound to his chest.  Anyone with information in the case is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-371-TIPS.
