Clayton, MO (KSDK) - A guilty plea in the March 2011 beating death of a two year old boy has resulted in a fifteen year prison sentence for the man responsible.
23 year old Donye Calvin pleaded guilty in St. Louis County to charges of second degree murder and abuse of a child resulting in death. Calvin was sentenced to concurrent terms of fifteen years on each of the counts by Judge David Lee Vincent.
Calvin was arrested in the death of his girlfriend two year old son, D'Mond Staples who police investigators say was severely beaten and punched by Calvin.
Authorities say Calvin was babysitting the little boy and assaulted the child for what Calvin described as misbehaving.
Paramedics were called to a home in on Tyrell Drive in unincorporated north St. Louis County where they found the child unconscious and unresponsive.
The youngster was pronounced dead a short time later.
