Samantha Burke dies in levee crash off Hwy-100, driver arrested

Osage County, MO (KSDK) - A one vehicle crash in Osage County Tuesday has left a woman dead and the driver of the vehicle she was riding, seriously injured.

Missouri Highway Patrol troopers say Samantha Burke, 31 of Hermann, was riding in the vehicle that left eastbound Highway 100 near Route Z around 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, struck a ditch and a levee.

The Kia Sportage then travelled over the small levee and the vehicle flipped over into a steep ditch.

Burke was pronounced dead at the crash scene.  The driver of the vehicle; identified by troopers as a 22 year old man from Chamois was taken to a hospital in Washington, Missouri with severe injuries.

Investigators say the driver was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter.
