Edwardsville, IL (KSDK) - A Madison County grand jury indicted a 33-year-old Caseyville man Thursday for his role in the drug overdose death of a Maryville woman back at the beginning of the year.

According to court documents, Brian Petty was charged with one count of drug induced homicide for allegedly delivering heroin to 49-year-old Gail Trexler.

Trexler was found dead in her apartment on Anthony Drive on January 1, 2012.

Investigators with the Maryville Police Department and Illinois State Police said Petty not only provided Trexler with the heroin, but injected it into her as well.

A judge set Brian Petty's bond at $150,000. Petty remains at large but will be held at the Madison County Jail once taken into custody.

If convicted, Petty faces between 6 and 30 years imprisonment.
