Louisiana standoff ends peacefully

Louisiana, MO (KSDK) - A standoff in Louisiana, Missouri ended peacefully Wednesday evening.

Police received a call just after 5 p.m. about a man with a gun on Martella Drive.

When police arrived the man was alone and asked to speak with Louisiana Police Chief Rich Hughes.

Hughes spoke with the suspect and diffused the situation.

The man surrendered peacefully and has been placed on a 72 hour mental commitment. His identity has not been released because he has not been charged with a crime.

Once the man is released from the hospital, authorities will decide how to proceed.

The Pike County Sheriff's Department and the Missouri Highway Patrol assisted in the incident.
