St. Louis County (KSDK) - A 15-year-old freshman at Ritenour High School was taken into custody Tuesday after bringing a loaded gun into the school.

Doug Bray, a spokesperson for the Ritenour School District, says during the high school's second hour students saw the student with a gun.

The students went to school administrators, who then called Breckenridge Hills police.

Police went to the school, found the gun on the student, and arrested him.

Bray says the student did not use the gun in a threatening way. He had it on him and was trying to conceal it.

The school will not have additional security Wednesday, but officals say the school is equipped with 115 surveillance cameras and three school resource officers.
