EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (KSDK) - An Alton man and Jerseyville woman were arrested Wednesday night for being intoxicated and involved in a single vehicle accident.

According to Captain William Dimitroff, spokesman for the Madison County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to an accident in the 7600 block of Godfrey Road shortly after 10:50 p.m. A vehicle struck a construction barrier at that location.

The driver of the vehicle, 20-year-old Kolyn Kerr, appeared to be driving under the influence of alcohol and was arrested, Dimitroff said. Deputies said Kerr also had an active arrest warrant in Jersey County for unlawful consumption of alcohol.

Kolyn Kerr was taken to the Madison County Jail and charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, driving under the influence of alcohol, improper lane usage and driving while license suspended. He was also issued a citation for unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor.

Dimitroff said the passenger in the car, 18-year-old Kinley Brady, was arrested for unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor.

The vehicle was towed from the scene. No injuries were reported.
