ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - The former chief of the St. Clair Fire Protection District and Ladue Fire Department has been indicted on fraud and multiple tax evasion charges.

Eric Hinson, 43, St. Clair, Missouri, was indicted by a federal grand jury Wednesday on one felony count of mail fraud and five felony counts of tax evasion.

Eric Hinson allegedly misused approximately $593,236 of St. Clair Fire Protection district funds between January 2006 and September 2011.

According to the indictment, Hinson used the fire district's finances to pay for things like family vacations, sporting goods, and other entertainment expenses.
