BELLEVILLE, IL (KSDK) - Brandon Garcia of Florissant, MO was given the maximum sentence of fourteen years in the Illinois Department of Corrections Friday.
Garcia was found guilty of aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol for the September 2011 death of Daunte Simmons.
Garcia receive a concurrent ten year sentence in prison on a second count of aggravated D.U.I. for causing great bodily harm and permanent disfigurement to Elvira Secic.
According to Illinois law, Garcia will have to serve at least 85% of the sentence imposed.
At the time of the accident Garcia's blood alcohol level was .162, and he was driving without a valid driver's license.
