Man shoots at police before fleeing in Mark Twain neighborghood

ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - St. Louis police have recovered a gun they beleive was used against them by a man who opened fire before running from police who returned fire early Tuesday in the Mark Twain neighborhood.

Police were on patrol in the 4900 block of Ashby in north St. Louis around 12:25 a.m. when they saw a light green Chrysler 300 sitting idle.

Officer got out to investigate the person with the car, when the man began to run.  Officers gave chase, when the man turned and opened fire on police in the 4900 block of Rosalie.

Officers returned shots at the fleeing man who eventually got away and remains at large.

No one was hit by the gunfire according to police.
