ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KSDK) - St. Louis police are asking for the public's help in identifying and locating a man who attempted to rob a Family Dollar store in a north city neighborhood last week.

According to Leah Freeman, a spokeswoman for the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the incident occurred just before 10:30 a.m. on January 18 in the 3700 block of Dr. Martin Luther King Drive.

The suspect walked into the store, approached counter and demanded money while brandishing a weapon. The clerk had difficulty opening the register, so the suspect ran out the store. No one was hurt.

Police described the suspect as an African-American man between the ages of 25 and 30, approximately 5'10" to 6' tall, weighing 160 to 180 pounds. He fled the scene in a green SUV, with a possible spare tire on the passenger side of the vehicle.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 866-371-TIPS.
