LAKELAND, Fla. (WTSP) - The Polk County Sheriff's office says a mother and father heard a strange noise on their baby monitor and found a bloodied woman inside their home, standing over their baby's crib.
This happened Friday night at the couple's home on Cherry Tree Drive in Lakeland.
The father grabbed the suspect, who said to him, "It's not what you think."
Deputies say she pleaded with him not to throw her out, saying, "He's gonna kill me."
Detectives believe the woman was referring to a man who was outside the house at the time. They think the man was helping commit the burglary with her.
The father threw the woman out of the house and called deputies. It appears she got into the home by breaking a living room window and crawling through it. She was cut up in the process.
The baby was not harmed, but blood from the woman got on the baby's shirt and diaper.
That same night, deputies say another nearby home was broken into by the same woman.
On Monday, Polk deputies identified and located suspect, 31-year-old Megan Michelle Jones. They say she lives in the neighborhood.
Jones claims she was drinking and doesn't remember much about the incident, but was told the following day she had broken into someone's home. Deputies say Jones had cuts on her arms, legs, back and forehead.
Detectives are still looking for Jones' male accomplice, who has not been identified.
