Teen girl approached by suspicious vehicle in Fairview Heights

FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill. (KSDK) - A 14-year-old girl says she was approached by a suspicious vehicle as she was leaving school Wednesday.

The girl told police she was leaving Pontiac School around 5 p.m. and was walking south in the 400 block of Joseph Drive when she noticed a red SUV was following her.

The vehicle pulled up to the girl and a passenger asked her to get inside. The girl said no.

Police say the girl said she kept walking and the SUV continued to follow her, eventually pulling into a driveway.

An occupant of the vehicle started to get out of the SUV, so the girl started running until she determined nobody was following her. She called police when she arrived home around 6:40 p.m.

Police say there were four or five black men inside the SUV. One passenger was described as in his early 20s and wearing a blue hoodie.

The driver of the SUV is described as in his 20s and wearing a black hoodie.

The girl said one of the passengers of the vehicle appeared to be around her age.

Pontiac School has released a surveillance still of the vehicle that is believed to be involved in the incident. It is a red Dodge Magnum wagon or similar vehicle.

Police are attempting to locate the vehicle and the men that were inside of it.
