ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - A 32-year-old south St. Louis man was sentenced to life in prison without parole for the beating death of his two-year-old son.
In January, a jury convicted Aaron Lucy of first-degree murder, child abuse resulting in death, evidence tampering and armed criminal action, for the death of his son, Kyle.
Prosecutors said the fatal beating took place on the evening of December 26, 2010 at Lucy's apartment in the 6900 block of Chippewa. A neighbor said Aaron Lucy came to him asking for an ambulance.
When police arrived, they found the child naked on the floor of the residence, covered in blood. They also found blood strewn throughout the home, amongst broken furniture and an overturned television set.
Kyle Lucy suffered skull fractures, as well as injuries to his arms and legs. He was rushed to a local hospital but died a short time later.
Investigators said Lucy lashed out on the boy after he was unable to stop the toddler from crying.
The jury deliberated for less than six hours before returning a guilty verdict on all counts.
