BALLWIN, Mo (KSDK) - An argument between a mother and her adult son overnight led to violence and the shooting death of the man.
Ballwin Police tells NewsChannel-5 around 1:05 a.m. Thursday they arrived to a home in the 700 block of Clayworth for a domestic dispute.
Officials say when they got there, the 81-year-old woman was waiting for police with a hand injury. She claimed her son, Brian Walker, 41, attacked her with a knife.
The woman told police she shot her son when he tried to attack her a second time. He died of his injuries.
The woman was also taken to a hospital for treatment of her injuries.
Police say they have been to the residence before, including once in the past year on a shots fired call, which ended up being unfounded.
People who live in the neighborhood say Walker and his mother were both nice people and it seemed like the two got along well. They say Walker moved in with his mother after his father passed away.
Neighbors say he would often help his mother around the house, especially with yard work.
"As far as I know they got along great. I never heard any complaints from him or whatever. He moved in to take care of his mom. I don't think she was in the greatest health," said a neighbor named Max who has lived near the family for about 40 years.
Police continue to investigate. There is no word yet if the mother will face any charges.
