Fairview Heights Smokey Bones restaurant robbed

FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill. (KSDK) -- The Fairview Heights Police Department has two people in custody accused of robbing the Smokey Bones BBQ restaurant Sunday morning.

The robbery took place around 8 a.m. at the Smokey Bones restaurant located in the 6100 block of N. Illinois. One of the suspects approached the restaurant manager as he was securing a side door, displayed a weapon and forced the manager back inside the building.

The suspect then took an unknown amount of cash and tied the manager to a piece of restaurant equipment. The suspect then stole the managers black Ford F-150 pick-up and fled the scene.

Responding officers spotted the stolen vehicle approximately two miles from the restaurant.

Officers were quickly able to confirm information about the two suspects reportedly involved in the robbery and informed surrounding agencies.

The men were taken into custody by a neighboring department a short time later without incident.

Nobody at the restaurant was injured during the incident.

The Fairview Heights Police is continuing the investigation into the robbery and asks anyone with information to contact the department at 618-489-2100.
