BELLEVILLE, Ill. (KSDK) - Charges have been filed against three men accused of violating absentee ballot laws.

Steveland Kidd, 25, has been charged with two counts of violation of absentee ballots. He is accused of taking ballots without authorization to mail.

James W. Haywood, Jr., 59, of Cahokia, and August Stacker, Jr., 59, of Belleville, have each been charged with one count of violation of absentee ballots.

St. Clair County State's Attorney Brendan Kelly says the charges stem from laws broken in the weeks leading up to the municipal elections in Alorton.

Each defendant is held on a $150,000 bond.
