ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - The search is on for the thieves who pulled off a cold-hearted crime. They ripped off a project that helps families find homes.

Tools were stolen from two Habitat for Humanity sites.

The first incident happened on either April 27 or 28 on Virginia. The second theft happened on May 2 on Michigan. More than $13,000 worth of power tools has been stolen.

Habitat for Humanity is building five houses in the Carondelet neighborhood and a spokesperson says the theft puts them behind schedule.

Anyone with information about the crimes is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 866-371-TIPS.

Habitat for Humanity is asking the construction community and the public to help replace the stolen items.
