Webster Groves shooting investigation
WEBSTER GROVES, Mo. (KSDK) - One man was shot in a Webster Groves neighborhood Monday afternoon.
The shooting happened around 2 p.m. in a driveway between two houses near the intersection of N. Elm and W. Waymire avenues.
A witness who lives in a nearby apartment said the shooting was self-defense.
Cierra White said she was talking with the alleged shooter on her back porch when a group of about 15 guys approached and began attacking him. She said the assailants came from another apartment in the complex.
White believes the motive as some kind of family matter.
"They beat him, they began punching him and stomping him all kind of things," she said. "He was beginning to fall to the ground and as he was falling he reached into his pocket and pulled out a weapon and he actually shot and happened to hit one of the guys in the chest."
The man was taken to a local hospital and is listed in critical condition.
Police have not disclosed a motive for the shooting. They are still working to determine if this was a case of self-defense.
