HILLSBORO, Mo. (KSDK) - A High Ridge man pleaded guilty to eight counts related to a kidnapping and jewelry theft, which happened Christmas Eve.
Derrick Stewart, 34, pleaded guilty to eight felony counts, including robbery, armed criminal action, kidnapping and assault on law enforcement Monday morning.
According to deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department, the kidnapping happened Christmas Eve morning at a home on Wild Valley Road in High Ridge. The homeowners found Stewart in the kitchen, which is when he struck the husband and forced the wife into her car. She drove him to Hirsh Brothers Jewelry, which is the store the couple owns.
After police were notified, officers pursued the woman and Stewart until the car could be disabled with spike strips.
Stewart has a sentencing hearing scheduled for Dec. 3.
