St. Louis, MO (KSDK) - The home of the University of Missouri is one of the smartest cities in America, according to a study posted on The Daily Beast.
The study, conducted by Lumos Labs, tested nearly 200 metropolitan areas and more than a million people across the country in five cognitive areas: attention, flexibility, memory, problem solving and processing. Half of the ranking came as a result of the test, with the other half based on the percentage of adults of the age of 25 with a bachelor's and/or master's degree.
Columbia, Missouri finished third on the list, behind Madison, Wisconsin and Charlottesville, Virginia.
Typically, metropolitan areas with multiple colleges and universities performed well in the rankings. St. Louis, home to nine four-year institutions, did not make the list.
