St. Louis (KSDK) - An amazing record was broken Friday morning at St. Joseph's Academy.
There were 144 girls who cut their long hair and donated the tresses to two organizations that make wigs for cancer patients.
That breaks the previous record at the Catholic girl's high school of 120 hair cuts in one day for cancer.
There were cheers and hugs, and some nerves, but absolutely no regrets.
"I really hope that anybody any age, but maybe also a teenage girl who wants to go to prom and doesn't have any hair could use my hair and feel really pretty just for one night or forever," said Sophia Sansone, a St. Joeseph's Academy senior.
"It's definitely nerve-wracking, but I'm super excited that I did it, I'm glad that I did it. It's just that there's something inside me, something in my heart, just a passion for it to help others," said Betty Goodwin, another senior.
All of the hair collected was donated to either Locks of Love or the Pantene Beautiful Lengths program.
