Washington University Olin Library extends hours

St. Louis (KSDK) -- Washington University students who have wanted to spend more time at the Olin Library will get to this school year.

The Olin Library will be open 24 hours Monday through Thursday on a trial basis beginning the week of September 9, this fall and January 27, in the spring.

The around the clock schedule will begin on Sundays at 10 a.m. and will last through 2:00 a.m. Friday.  On Fridays, the library will be reopen from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The Olin Library will be open 24-7 during reading and exam weeks in the fall and spring.

Three security guards will be at the library from 2 a.m. to 7:30 a.m.

The extended hours are being offered based on students' requests, according to Sarah Laaker the circulation librarian and chair fo the Library Hours Committee at Olin Library.

The extended hours will be reevaluated at the end of the 2012-2013 school year.
