ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. (KSDK) - The Newtown shootings left parents, students and school officials across the country with high anxiety about school safety.
Earlier this week, Hazelwood School District administrators met with officials from the Florissant, Hazelwood and St. Louis County police departments, as well as the Hazelwood Fire Department, Florissant Valley Fire Protection District and Robertson Fire Protection District.
Hazelwood School District Superintendent Grayling Tobias said the district has received reports from parents about rumored threats of violence at schools on Friday, but they have no indication of any real threat.
However, the district will implement the following safety procedures at all schools:
- Limitation of hall passes
- Increased staff supervision in all areas of the school
- Increased supervision by security officers and police
- Checking all exterior doors every 15 minutes
High school students will also not be permitted to bring book bags on campus.
