St. Louis ranked ninth most literate city

ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - St. Louis has made a list of America's most literate cities.

The survey, conducted by Central Connecticut State University, ranked Washington, D.C. as the nation's most literate city.

St. Louis ranked ninth among the nation's 75 largest cities.

Cities are ranked based on research data that indicates citizens' use of literacy, including booksellers, educational attainment, internet resources, library resources, newspaper circulation, and periodical publish resources. The information was then compared with population rates.

The top 10 most literate cities:
1. Washington, D.C.
2. Seattle, Wash.
3. Minneapolis, Minn.
4. Pittsburgh, Penn.
5. Denver, Colo.
6. St. Paul, Minn.
7. Boston, Mass.
8. Atlanta, Ga.
9. St. Louis, Mo.
10. Portland, Ore.
