3 local schools recognized for performance

ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - State Education Department recognized 11 Missouri schools last month as Professional Learning Communities Exemplary Schools. These schools implement the professional learning community process and promote cultures focused on learning with collaborative teams and effectively using data to increase student achievement.

Three local schools mad the list: Festus Elementary School, Festus Intermediate, and Festus Middle School.

Other schools that received the honor are: Benton Elementary School, Central Park Elementary School, Gratz Brown Elementary School, North Park Elementary School, Partridge Elementary School, South Park Elementary School, Upper Elementary School and Waynesville East Elementary School.

The award recipients were showcased by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education at the 2013 Powerful Learning Conference. More than 1,400 educators across the state were in attendance.
