St. Louis (KSDK) - Barnes-Jewish Hospital and its physician partners at Washington University School of Medicine have been listed on U.S. News & World Report's honor roll of "Best Hospitals" for the 20th consecutive year.
Barnes was also ranked as the best hospital in St. Louis and the state of Missouri. Overall, they rank sixth in the country.
The "Best Hospitals" report also ranked each hospital in 16 individual areas. Barnes ranked in the top 15 nationally in 15 of the 16 specialties.
The areas of nephrology, orthopedics, pulmonology, ear, nose and throat, neurology and neurosurgery, urology, cancer, gynecology, diabetes and endocrinology, cardiology and heart surgery, gastroenterology, and geriatrics are judged based on measures directly relating to patient care. The four remaining specialties - ophthalmology, psychiatry, rehabilitation, and rheumatology are ranked based on their reputation among specialists.
