St. Louis County (KSDK) - The St. Louis County Department of Health is investigating an active case of tuberculosis.
A spokesperson for the department says the infected person works at one of the airport parking areas, but declined to specify which one.
The health department is testing anyone who had close contact with the individual, but did not disclosed how many people will be tested.
Travelers and anyone who has had casual contact with the person is not at risk because it takes prolonged exposure to contract the disease.
The health department also says they see at least one case in the county per month, and it is highly treatable if the person receives treatment. They also note that many individuals were immunized against tuberculosis as infants.
An employee with Super Park says the person infected with the disease is a shuttle driver and has been sick for six weeks.
That employee says a letter was posted early Thursday morning for all employees to see. It warns an unnamed colleague has had tuberculosis and that a small group of 14 out of 200 employees will be tested for the disease.
NewsChannel 5 reached out to Super Park for a comment, but did not receive a call back.
